  2. The message in this poster is persuading people to buy their goods and that so many people are buying them. The message "jungles today are gold mines tomorrow" means that when they are getting goods from the jungles they are getting a lot of money when they are selling. Their fruits are fresh and healthy.

This poster gives a positive view of British imperialism. They are using natural resources to be successful. They are using trade ships for trade to get their goods. It helped socially, economically, and politically. it is really expanding trade and helping people with living.

    1) The message of this poster is "Jungles Today are Gold Mines Tomorrow." It described about British economic needs "jungles" such as "gold" during 1895 to 1925. England had more goods they sold and they received, all nations should have lots of money for their government and people in the world. So British thinks the jungles were the better sources for them, in jungle, they could get a lot of goods, fruits, vegetables, and woods. So the poster said" Growing Markets For Our Goods".
    2) I think this poster give a negative view of British imperialish because jungles are the most important sources for this world. The jungles produce most of Earth's oxygen, and removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It's a major source of wood, which poor countries and tribes can sell. So jungles are not for British only. Not the "Gold Mines" for British only.

  4. 1. The message of this poster is that Africa is a flourishing continent filled with exotic food, animals, resources, and ores like gold. This meant that it was a good place to earn money for the British. The phrase: "Jungles Today Are Gold Mines Tomorrow" express that possibility. And from the charts of the amount of Euros they received, the money they earned from taking these resources was a lot. Though this may have been good for Britain, it definitely wasn't for Africa.

    2. This poster gives a negative view of British Imperialism. The reason why is that the Africans never wanted Britain to take their things. Instead, they ruled over them with their power and stole their resources for their own good. To them, the British took no thought over how they would feel, and resumed with their business plans without giving the least concern to their problems. This poster shows how wrong it was to do such thing.

The message in the poster is that the British empire is expanding in to Africa. In the title is says jungles today our gold mines tomorrow and what they mean by that is that the British are traveling trough the jungle and looking for natural resources to take back to Britain. The menu is the most evident thing on the page as you can see over time the more the sold the more goods that are sold the that are brought in the more money you make

  6. The message form this poster is that the jungles today or the jungles there were present in Africa back then are gold mines. That means that the jungles have grown over the gold and that there would be jobs available to the people to help dig up the gold. They also wanted to promote trade between the British and the empire. Their main goal was to get people to buy goods from empire countries. Another goal of theirs were to get British businesses to look for markets in empire countries and to see if there were goods they could buy from empire countries.

From this poster, the British make it seem like this is a positive thing but the truth is that it isn't. I believe that they try to make this look as positive as possible to get more Africans to help them in their quest for gold. With the bright vibrant colors and showing the amount of money they receive, they believe that will encourage them to join them. This is negative because of many reasons. One main reason is because they're lying to the African; they believe that placing 2 happy Africans on the poster will make more people want to join because it'll be an enjoyable time while it wasn't. One last thing that I believe was a negative or a lie was the wording on the bottom of the poster; "Growing Markets for our Goods". I believe it's a lie because they aren't actually growing markets for the Africans goods (gold) but they were actually growing the market for themselves.

  7. The Empire Marketing Board created this poster in 1927. European countries were colonizing Africa in order to take advantage of natural resources. By making the native people slaves means more of a profit for them. In the image there is a chart showing “Good We Sold” and “Goods We Received” which shows more goods being sold then being received.
The poster gives a negative view of British imperialism. It shows how the Europeans took advantage of the native people and their natural resources. “Jungles today are Gold Mines Tomorrow” means that no one was expecting Europeans to invade the country and start claiming land while turning their homes into money making mines. Some Africans believed that their natural resources were a curse rather than a blessing.

  8. The message of this poster is that African Jungles are being turned into gold mines because of the technology the British brought with them. The British saw african jungles as a way to make money because their jungles were rich with gold and other minerals.
This gives a negative view of the British Empire. This gives a negative view because it sounds like they only want to get money from the gold mines in Africa. It also shows the they dont care about the Jungle, they only see it as a gold mine and way to get money.

  9. The message that this poster is that they received a lot of goods and also sell a lot of goods, because England was sending a lot of goods to Africa and receiving them back, this message is that England is help trading with African colonies and receiving them back to grow their markets with Africa.

This poster shows a more positive view of British imperialism, because it helped benefit England with trading other countries and countries receiving goods back from Africa, plus it will help how England will do with imperialism later on and showing how England Benefit from Imperialism.

  11. 1. This poster successfully explicates the "good" that results by exploiting African colonies. The title "Jungles today are gold mines tomorrow" illustrates an image of how determined Britain is to imperialize African Colonies. The overall message of this propaganda is to advertise the idea of British imperialism, furthermore it makes Britain look strong, both economically and socially.
    2. This poster gives a positive view to those whom are British, but a negative view to other countries. To proud British citizens the actions that are taken by Britain may be seen as actions for the "good", but in reality other countries are given the reason to believe that Britain is rather greedy and corrupt. Countries that are impacted by British imperialization resent the British for taking advantage of their rich, natural resources. Britain comes across in a negative point of view, the actions taken by the British makes the government seem power hungry, making their society and political power inadequate.

  12. The poster of “Jungles Today Are Gold Mines Tomorrow” from 1927 happens to be very racist and shouldn’t even be considered as an ad. The message of the poster is that the jungles in Africa should be used as gold mines while putting forced labor on the people that live in those villages. The ad is basically propaganda because it only shows how much profit America makes, rather than the suffering that is being put in by innocent people. In the ad, it shows the Africans being happy and cheerful, but in reality the people are being treated like slaves.
This poster gives a positive view of British Imperialism to the people at the time that saw this ad in a newspaper or on the streets because it only shows the amount of money that Great Britain will make. It shows the growing profit and all the things that the people want to see. People now, in 2013, will look at the ad and see the unfairness that the African people were put through and think of it as negative. They will see British Imperialism as some kind of monster that put the people of Africa through a lot of struggles. This shows that at that time, Great Britain cared more about the money, then how it was being made.

  13. 1. The message of this poster is imperialism. The British is getting all their goods from Africa and are obtaining large amount of money from profit. As they continue to get goods from the foreign country, they will open more markets which will bring in more money for the government.
    2. The poster gives a negative view of British imperialism. It is nice for Britain to be getting goods from another country though, it makes them look bad by advertising their progress like that. The amount of money made from selling the products shouldn't necessarily be shown to everyone in the country.

1)The post is telling how the African colonies are selling more goods than they are received. The poster is saying that by buying goods from African countries, Britain would be creating good links and potential customers for British businesses in Africa.
2)I think this post is a good view of Britain, because the post was created to influence the British to buy goods from African colonies, which can help develop its economic, but on the other hand, the British companies sold more goods than they've received. It seems like that the British imperialism is helping develop these colonies.

  16. 1) This poster is informing people how many African countries have a lot of potential due to the gold being found. Its brings to knowledge the profit being made by these countries. From 1895-1925 you can see the amount of money being received and the amount of money being made by selling items over there. You can see how much money is being made of these African countries.
    2) This gives a positive view of British Imperialism, because you only see the positive aspects and the benefits. Its shows how what's going on is good for them, but it lacks reality. You don't see how the people are being treated and are suffering because of mining. The people painted are smiling and look happy but that's far from the truth of what they really look like when they are slaving over the Europeans who go looking for gold or other valuables.

  17. The message of this poster is that in the mists of Africa, the under developed areas are points of great profit.
This poster was made more from a business point of view saying that even though they are nothing today, they can be something worthwhile tomorrow.
This paints both a negative and positive view of England depending on how you look at it. From a business point of view they look industrious, and are taking advantage of great opportunities. From a moral point of view they look like bullies because everybody knows what is going to have to happen for them to take it.

  18. 1.The meaning of this poster is juggles today are the gold mine belongs to the British, and British will usually make the Africans work from TO-DAY TO-"MORROW" ( means from day to morrow) and requesting people to start markets to strength their nation.
2.In this poster I have seen many negative effect of the British imperialism despite the facts, when a nation are controlled by the other imperialized nation, the nation being controlled have no freedom and has to listen to the imperialized nation, in this case it's the African countries who are being controlled by the British and have to mine from day to night.

The poster is a table of the goods sold and received, and along the top it says, “jungles today are gold mines tomorrow.” The message can be mistaken as exploitation of african goods. However, I believe that this poster’s message is trying to encourage trade between Britain and Africa. I think that it is saying that trade has help developed Africa and can continue to do so. The main idea of this article is wanting people to think that trade between africa is good for both africa and britain.

The poster gives off a positive view of British imperialism. The trade has developed africa and can continue to do so. However, this poster is a government poster. There is probably exploitation going on behind the scenes, which this poster fails to mention. That is bad for africa, in fact, it does the exact opposite of develop africa.

  20. 1. This poster illustrates many different points of this time. First of all its showing how the African jungles turned into business opportunities for England. The jungles now turned into gold mines when England arrived. It also shows that Africa gave more to England then it received. It also showed how England constantly went into other countries and used there recourses.

    2. This poster is both illustrated positive and negative affects of British imperialism. However this poster is mostly showing positive affects of British imperialism. It says “growing markets for our goods” which is positive. It also shows how the British turned “unneeded” jungles into business opportunities. Turning nothing into something was the message of this poster.

  21. The primary aim poster was to get people to buy goods from empire countries while they got the good from elsewhere for much less. Another idea was to get other British businesses to search for market in empire countries and to see if there were goods they buy from other empire countries. The poster is trying to show that trade with the British has helped to develop them further along the line.

The poster is giving a negative view. The British would be creating good links and potential customers for British businesses in these countries. The poster was a government poster. It is possible that some African countries were exploited and the poser fails to mention that it was. Its bad for Africa's business.

  22. I believe that the poster has two messages. An ostensible message, and like most advertising, a subliminal message. The ostensible message is in the words and the subliminal message is mostly in the pictures. The words are saying the obvious meaning, which is for people to buy goods from empire countries and to get British entrepreneurs to invest in the colonies. The subliminal message of the pictures is that the colonized people aren’t as good as the British because of their appearance and the way they lived. The way they were portrayed is a dehumanization. It’s showing what Great Britain thinks they are doing for their home country. They believed that they were making things better for everyone. They thought that as long as it was bettering their country, it didn’t matter what it cost anyone else. British Imperialism was good for the British. It made other countries think that the British were better than them but it hurt the countries that Great Britain was taking from to make them look better and not everyone knew that. Most countries thought that the British were just better than them. They didn’t think to find out how the British were getting everything they wanted, they just saw what the British had and they wanted it. So they allowed the British to colonize them because if they wanted to be just like the British, they needed the British to teach them how, right? Wrong. But the British were too land and/or power hungry to let them know that. They just took what they were given regardless of the effect it would have on the countries they were taking it from. If the British wanted something and they weren’t getting it the easy way, they did their best to get it the hard way. They would bring their military over to different countries and attempt to colonize and/or take their natural and unnatural resources.

This poster is a positive representation of British Imperialism if someone from the mid-20th century is looking at it because colonization is something that they were used to. While that means it isn’t really a bad thing to them, it doesn’t make it good. What makes it a good thing is that it was good for business and it promoted the economy. It was a negative representation of British Imperialism if someone from the 21st century is looking at it because in this century, people are more sensitive to equal rights, so they would feel enraged by the connotation of exploitation. It would also offend people because it shows the colonized people as uncivilized savages and people nowadays are more aware of ideals such as democracy, human rights, civil rights, etc. Even though British Imperialism was better for the British, it didn’t mean it was better for everyone else and that’s one thing that the British didn’t really care about. This isn’t necessarily what’s best for everyone, but Great Britain believes that what they think is best for them is what’s best for everyone else. It makes people suspect that British imperialism is a good thing even though they don’t know all of the details concerning the treatment of the Africans. No one but the British really understand the African treatment. The only people who really understood were the Africans and the British who were involved in the process. People thought they understood, but they weren’t able to fully understand unless they were part of the actual process.

Also showing people buying goods from empire countries. Letting British businesses to look for markets in empire countries and to see if there were goods they could buy from empire countries.

This poster shows a positive view of British imperialism because British take over other places because of their goods and trades. It is helping the British's country to grow stronger and wealthier. They are receiving better goods and selling better goods with show other countries their wealth which can increase their trading.

  25. This poster made from England in 1927 called "Jungles Today Are Gold Mines Tomorrow" shows the tropical African colonies in account with the home country. The poster shows the profit income that the British made with trading with African tropical colonies. I think that by Jungles today are gold mines tomorrow they mean that these jungles which Africans gave many goods and gold to England.

This poster shows a negative view of England imperialism. Its basically England bragging about the profit that they make in these trades. They make it seem like England is the most important and they can just use Africans for gold.

This British poster , during the 1927, has a message behind it. The message of this poster , "Jungles Today Are Gold Mines Tomorrow", is that the goods that are brought to the country from foreign nations, such as African colonies, are the country's future wealth. "Jungles " is symbolizing and referring to the foreign nation, Africa. In addition, the "Gold mines" is referring to the menu and wealth that is resulting of the supplies sold. The poster is showing the rates / amount of money of both the goods sold and the goods received.
In my opinion, this poster gives a positive view of British imperialism. I believe this because the poster shows two different sides , "goods sold ," and" goods received " and in both sides of the poster it is demonstrating a fair amount that the supplies of goods is bringing to them. Also, from the amount that it is demonstrating , It is clear that they sell a great and fair amount of the supplies that brings them good cause. In addition , I think that since the supplies were a great resource then it must have benefited them a lot more.

  28. 1. The message/purpose this poster is to promote trade between Britain and the empire. It may look as though the poster is encouraging the exploitation of African countries. In fact, the poster is trying to show that trade with Britain has helped to develop these countries and could help to develop them further. At the same time, the poster is saying that by buying goods from African countries, Britain would be creating good links and potential customers for British businesses in these countries.
    2. This gives a positive view because it's showing us how much goods they get to sell and how much goods they recieve. In the poster, as you can see, the nubmers are all in the millions. Because of these statistics on the poster, it shows that British Imperialism can improve your country's trade. Basically, it was to get people to buy goods from empire countries. It was also to get British businesses to look for markets in empire countries and to see if there were goods they could buy from empire countries.

This gives a positive view because its shows how much good they sold and how much they received. It shows that they sell more than they received.
